GENEALOGY AND ANCESTRY OF CALVIN COOLIDGE, 30TH PRESIDENT

Calvin Coolidge is the only President to be sworn into office by his father. He also was responsible for lighting the first national Christmas tree in what has become an annual ceremony. Known as "Silent Cal," Calvin Coolidge was born July 4, 1872 in Plymouth, Vermont. His parents were John Calvin Coolidge and Victoria Josephine Moor. Calvin Coolidge shares a common Delano ancestry with presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Ulysses S. Grant. He shares a common Littlefield ancestry with President Millard Fillmore. He shares a common Cogswell ancestry with presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams as well as with Herbert Hoover's wife Lou Henry. He shares a common descent from Henry Squire with presidents John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Millard Fillmore and William Howard Taft. He shares a common descent from William Talvas Le Despenser with presidents George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Warren Harding, George Herbert Walker Bush, and George W.
